Domestic Boilers Leeds | 5 Tips to Spring Clean your Central Heating

With spring on the way now’s a great time for checking domestic boilers. You spring clean your home so why not your heating to keep it in good working condition? From routine checks to a power flush, here we’ve put together our 5 top tips. Read on this week for some expert advice on domestic boilers and springtime maintenance.

Start by Turning Down the Thermostat

As the weather warms up so does your home and your boiler won’t need to work so hard. So turn the temperature down by just 1 degree and you may even save money this year. If you’ve also been considering an upgrade of your boiler, spring is a great time to get booked in. This time of year is much quieter plus you’ll be able to cope without any heating for a day or two.

Watch Out for Leaks or Noises

Boiler leaks can happen at any time but particularly after the cold months. Pipes can freeze, expand and then split leading to leaks as the weather gets warm. If you check the seals around the boiler, you’ll easily know if everything’s still tightly connected. Boilers also make strange noises so listen out and report any bubbling to a heating professional.

Get a Spring Boiler Service

In spring and summer, we rely less on domestic boilers and central heating. So even though it may sound odd, now is the time to have your boiler serviced instead of in winter. Avoiding any horrid surprises when it gets cold again your boiler will be in the best possible working order. Plan ahead now and book yours in with a service by Direct Heating.

Radiators Need Spring Cleaning Too!

It’s not just your boiler that needs attention in spring, radiators need checking too. Start by giving them a polish to remove any dust and keep them looking bright and clean. Next, bleed all of your radiators to help release air which will prevent them from working properly. Dirt can also build up inside too and for this, you may need a power flush.

Book a Power Flush if Needed

If your boiler is making a vibrating noise or your radiators feel patchy and cold, one simple solution is a power flush to get your heating back to working tip-top. Removing a buildup of sludge from the system this will ensure your radiators heat up properly again. It will also improve your boiler’s efficiency – get in touch to learn more about power flushing.
